NICHOLAS' BACKGROUND INFORMS HIS WORK
Nicholas’ work combines metalwork and carved stones in such harmony that it is difficult to imagine that both express skills learnt at different times and in different places.    Nicholas followed a traditional apprenticeship in Athens (1) with a somewhat more cosmopolitan stint at St Martin’s, London’s leading design college.

His degree collection, a combination of traditionally-worked gold in pure geometric forms, swiftly went on show in London (2) and Mykonos.     It is rare for a jeweller to have both stonecutting and metalwork skills but it ensures that the shape and colour of the stones sits perfectly with the geometry of the metal. The new collection went on show in London in 2007 (3).
(1) Nicholas did his apprenticeship in Athens with Vasilis Logarides, Adler’s former partner from Constantinople. Both left the city in 1968, one to set up in Switzerland, the other to Athens. (2) The Leslie Craze Gallery in London’s Clerkenwell. (3) Electrum Gallery, South Molton Street, London
