Nicholas’ approach to jewellery design is inspired by his aim to express the “classical ideal”. His designs are the product of a rigorous simplification in his search for the “essential” - the basic form that reveals the key idea. He is always interested in the optical and plastic properties of gemstones, experimenting with cuts that push the boundaries of traditional gem cutting. His work includes tourmaline, rare types of garnet, amethyst, jade, opal and rose-cut diamonds set in 22-carat gold and 18-carat white and yellow gold.
